Bruce Hornsby Scoring Spike Lee Directed Kobe Bryant Film

1980s hit singer/songwriter Bruce Hornsby has never scored a film until he accepted offers to write music for two films that are coming out this year. The first is a documentary about NBA star Kobe Bryant directed by Spike Lee called Kobe Doin’ Work. Billboard reports the film features 35-40 minutes of Hornsby’s original music and is set to premiere at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Film Festival on April 25.

Hornsby, who has worked with Spike Lee in the past on movie soundtracks and has enlisted the director to helm a few music video projects, will has also scored a much different kind of film slated for a 2009 release. World’s Greatest Dad stars Robin Williams and features both a cameo by Bruce Hornsby, as well as original music by “The Way It Is” songwriter.
