Metallica Cancels Concert, Hetfield Hospitalized

Only a few minutes before Metallica was set to take the stage in front of 16,000 fans at Stockholm’s Globe Arena, three members of the band announced that singer James Hetfield was being hospitalized indefinitely and the show would not go on. “Trust me, none of you guys wanna hear me, Rob or Kirk sing,” Ulrich joked before the bummed out crowd, adding, “Obviously we don’t want to be Metallica without our brother and our strength, James.”

Hetfield has since been released from the hospital and returned to the U.S. A spokesperson for the band said Hetfield suffered from dehydration and a stomach bug, but is recovering well.
