Spinal Tap Announce 30-Date Spring Tour

Unwigged & Unplugged: An Evening with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer will go on a 30-date tour, starting April 17 in Vancouver and lasting until May 31 in Milwaukee. The trio will be performing songs from their semi-fictional band Spinal Tap, as well as the group they portrayed in Guest’s film A Mighty Wind, the Folksmen.

They made the announcement via webcast at LA’s House of Blues and performed a small set of songs to be featured on the tour, which marks the group’s 25th anniversary. The musical comedy trio will not be performing in costume, but there will be props: “Stonehenge is possible,” Michael McKean said. “[We’re] trying to figure out a way to do (Spinal Tap’s bass opus) ‘Big Bottom’ on three acoustic guitars.” Unfortunately, McKean added, “You can’t go to 11 on an acoustic tour.”
