8-Bit Stories: Slash, Wino, Bono and Feist, Oh My!

As you can see, we’re not quite sure what to call our news roundup posts, but we’ll keep trying ideas until something works. I liked “Bacon Bits,” but it feels wrong to suggest that any news is as good as bacon. Here are a few savory bits nonetheless.

Slash’s Twitter could fuel countless “[famous musician] is playing with Slash!” posts. In only the last couple weeks, Slash has tweeted about jamming with Ron Wood and Patrick Keeler from The Raconteurs (see that, Jack, he’s got friends too!), comedian George Lopez, Estelle and Fergie. Check out what’s under Slash’s top hat here.

The Sun has lots of “sources” and “insiders” claiming Eminem dissed Amy Winehouse on his new song because she passed up the chance to be his new Dido. We can’t decide if this is true or if we care, but whatevs. It’s Friday, right? The gossip is thataway.

So Bono couldn’t bring peace to the Middle East, but lord knows he tried. What he did achieve, however, was getting Google and Universal Music into the same room to say, “Screw it, let’s just make some Hulu type thing and call it a week.” The LA Times is on the case.

Lady Sovereign says Def Jam turned her into a cutter or something.

Pitchfork and IFC have an exclusive screening of the new Cillian Murphy, Feist and Kevin Drew film The Water. We haven’t watched it yet, but it’s got attractive artsy people in it, so it’s in the queue after last night’s Daily Show.
