Perhaps Evan Dando’s lawyers waited a bit too long, as General Motors just filed for bankruptcy last week, but Dando filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the American car company on Saturday at Los Angeles federal court, BBC reports.
GM allegedly re-recorded the title track to the 1992 Lemonheads album It’s a Shame About Ray and used Dando’s music in a 2008 ad campaign for Buick and Chevy. Listen to the commercials in question here or here.
Dando seeks damages and a portion of the profits in his claim, but I think it’s safe to assume GM have no profits to be handed over to the grunge rocker.
