Dead Weather Make Bloody Visit to Captain Beefheart’s Childhood Home

I thought Bob Dylan was the only famous musician obsessed with visiting the childhood homes of rock stars, but the Dead Weather’s Jack White and Alison Mosshart apparently share that particular pastime. After filming the Jonathan Glazer-directed video for “Treat Me Like Your Mother” in Los Angeles, the pair, while covered with fake blood and bullet holes, decided to visit the childhood home of Captain Beefheart, Bill Forman reports for the Colorado Springs Independent.

“We were covered in blood,” Mosshart said. “Fake blood from head to toe, with 70 bullet holes through us. You know, we were just totally gross. We showed up at his house and left a bunch of beetle shells — dead beetles we’d found in the desert — and some burned sticks under his tree. It just seemed appropriate!”

The current residents of Beefheart’s former home had never heard of him and there was much confusion in the neighborhood about a film crew and group of bloody rock stars invading their suburban lawns, but at least nobody called the cops.
