Conor Oberst’s Label Offers Free Simon Joyner Retrospective

Conor Oberst’s vanity record label Team Love got off to a running start a few years back by releasing Jenny Lewis’ solo debut Rabbit Fur Coat and now the little label that could has the clout (and funds) to promote Oberst’s biggest influences, namely David Dondero and Simon Joyner.

In just two weeks, Joyner’s 12th album, Out Into the Snow, will be released (two free MP3s here) and Team Love has conveniently offered to help you get up to speed on Joyner’s oeuvre thus far by offering up a free retrospective collection “spanning Simon Joyner’s lengthy and storied career in music.”

This could sound like just a cheap promotional stunt, but I think it’s a great deal because Joyner has put out a ton of music—some of it hard to find—and it’s pretty amazing to hear how much Bright Eyes ripped this guy off.

Hop on over to the twee-friendly Team Love Library for this cool record.
