Zooey Deschanel, David Crosby Join Ben Gibbard at WTF Festival

When we announced upcoming appearances by the likes of Jenny Lewis, Ben Gibbard, Jackson Browne, System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, John Doe, “and friends” for Tim Robbins’ WTF?! Festival in Los Angeles, I speculated that Mr. Gibbard’s said “friends” may include new bride, Zooey Deschanel. Well, only 100 people got tickets for the gig this past weekend, LA Snark was one of them, and I think their report proves not only that we made a good prediction, but also that Ben “Meet Me on the Equinox” Gibbard has found his stride.

She & Him’s Zooey Deschanel, “singer of [his] favorite band” (awww), joined Gibbard onstage for a duet or two, including some Everly Brothers covers with CSNY’s David Crosby. So he’s singing with Woodstock legends, jamming with Jeff Tweedy’s former songwriting partner, and he basically wrote inspired a song that’s topping the charts? Lucky guy, indeed.

Also: Gibbard dedicated “Why You’d Want To Live Here” to his new digs in LA. Check out photos from the event here.
