Stream Snippet of Robert Smith’s “Very Good Advice” Cover

Ever since the soundtrack to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland was revealed, and we heard that Robert Smith has made a very rare solo outing for the Johnny Depp-starring Disney remake, Ive been dying to hear The Cure frontman’s take on the original weepy version of  “Very Good Advice.” (In fact, we’ve been kind of blog-stalking Smith of late.)

Well, less than a day ago, Disney posted a sample from every song on the soundtrack (via @slicingeyeballs), including Smith’s much-anticipated cover, Franz Ferdinand’s take on “The Lobster Quadrille,” and others.

Thankfully, the 30-second sample from Smith includes a lot of vocals, providing a fairly solid preview of his take on the track, complete with Smith’s inimitable melding of emotion with melody, as well as an industrial, almost dissonant (for a Disney film at least) backing arrangement.
