Earlier in the month, I mentioned that New Jersey indie rockers Steel Train recruited Holly Miranda, Nellie McKay, Dirty Projectors member/solo artist Angel Deradoorian, Amanda Palmer, Alia Shawkat of Arrested Development fame, Scarlett Johansson, Tegan and Sara, and 6 other female musicians for Terrible Thrills Vol. 1, a covers album of songs off their new self-titled LP. Truth be told, I wasn’t very familiar with Steel Train’s music prior to this announcement, but following this project has been a great way to get acquainted with their excellent jams. After watching Palmer record her take on “Behavior” with Kill Hannah’s Mat Devine live via Ustream mere hours after the last post, I’ve been eager to hear the finished product, which drops this week.
