When we last checked in with Kyp Malone, a.k.a. Rain Machine, the TV on the Radio guitarist had performed a memorable cover of Talking Heads classic “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)” in New York. Now we have another cover tune, as well as two new songs, performed live in Oakland, CA on his birthday. The fine folks at Cover Me pointed us to Malone’s New, Improved Recording session over at the Bay Bridged, which features Malone’s excellent take on traditional children’s song “Frog Went A-Courtin,” and new solo songs “Gun Inside My Head” and “Holy Shit.” (There’s also a video clip of Malone making a wish and blowing out candles on a birthday cake that is completely adorbs.)
