Arcade Fire’s “We Used to Wait”: Official Video, Live Clip, + Cover by The Drums

Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs single “We Used to Wait” was the talk of the blogosphere today as Jon Stewart’s bully-fighting friends unveiled a pseudo-interactive video (à la 2007’s “Neon Bible” flash site), which allows viewers to customize pop-up footage via Google Maps to add a bit of nostalgia to the viewing experience. The site is said to be only fully compatible with Google’s Chrome browser, though Pop Candy points out that Safari works, as well. It’s a fun experiment and first of its kind to my knowledge, so go ahead and load the correct browser, enter an address (they suggest the location of your childhood home), and visit “The Wilderness Downtown” here.

Also making a blip on the radar is some excellent live footage of Arcade Fire’s set at the Reading Festival over the weekend and a live cover of “We Used to Wait” by the Drums (who premiered their “Down By The Water” video on Stereogum today). Enjoy the Drums’ cover and the “We Used to Wait” live clip below:
