The fourth LP from San Francisco guitar-drums duo The Dodos won’t arrive until March 15, but Meric Long and Logan Kroeber are letting us hear the full Neko Case-featuring effort, No Color, a few weeks ahead of the drop date over at the Hype Machine (or below). One spin through the 9-track effort and No Color has already provided a welcome burst of energy this drowsy late afternoon via The Dodos’ signature percussive acoustic 6-string attack and multi-textured, pulse-racing drums, as well as touches of distorted guitar. It’s well worth a listen — if only for the thrill of hearing Case’s welcome harmonies on about half the record. Avoid the NoDoz and supplement your caffeine fix with the Dodos’ high-energy, thoroughly catchy set thataway.
