At this point, seven out of twelve songs off the Arctic Monkeys’ forthcoming LP, Suck It and See, have been previewed either live on television, in the form of music videos, or, in this case, during a 2-song acoustic set by frontman Alex Turner for radio station 102.1 The Edge. Stripped of the full-band electric setup, both the title track and “Love Is a Laserquest” recall Turner’s recent Submarine soundtrack a bit, which is a welcome shift in direction — Turner as a witty, potentially Leonard Cohen-inspired troubadour — that we’re hoping he pursues further once Suck It promo rounds subside.
