Laura Marling Once I Was An EagleOnly weeks after the fall 2011 release of Laura Marling’s third LP, A Creature I Don’t Know, the British songwriter began writing and road-testing material for her next record. Many more have showed up in setlists since, and now we know which ones made the cut, along with a preview of album track “Where Can I Go?” It turns out the first tune unveiled, “Pray For Me,” will arrive alongside 15 other songs on Once I Was An Eagle, due this May. If that album name sounds familiar, you may have caught LP4’s near-title track, “I Was An Eagle,” which was a live favorite also debuted just after her last album’s release. This set is Marling’s third record produced by longtime collaborator Ethan Johns. Hear our first taste above — a lovely folk-meets-soul cut, “Where Can I Go?” — and revisit an early radio performance of another tune with the tracklist below:
