Elvis Depressedly: “Pepsi/Coke Suicide”

Elvis DepressedlyChris at Lewis and His Blog caught me up to speed with Mat Cothran this week, reporting that the South Carolina songwriter will follow a prolific 2012 with more new records this year from his bands Coma Cinema and Elvis Depressedly. “Pepsi/Coke Suicide” is a preview track from the Depressedly project due on April 16th, and despite that name, its sonic bed of sludge-buzz guitar, et al., when he sings the main hook (“Always real, always right, always all right.”) a glimmer of hope somehow bleeds through. That said, simple chords and a fine melody alone served to pique interest over here in the full-length, Holo Pleasures via Birdtapes. Hear it above.
