\"DarkThe final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises<\/em>, hits screens tonight, complete with one of the best soundtracks of the year so far. “The idea was actually very simple: I wanted a chant,” lauded composer Hans Zimmer said recently<\/a> of the impetus behind music for the final installment’s lead villain, Bane. “I kept thinking, ‘Let’s take the symphony orchestra, which we always think of as the pinnacle of western culture, and turn them on their head. And I just sat down with the orchestera and said, ‘Think of yourself as a primeval drum circle.”<\/p>\n

That, along with an army of thousand of fans\/vocal contributors, makes for both a foreboding and convincing thrill ride when it comes to the main character in the series. As Zimmer has done with countless other summer tentpoles, the music is much a character and narrative theme as the film’s visuals. In addition to The Dark Knight<\/em> score and soundtrack contributions he’s made, Nolan’s Inception<\/em>\u00a0also springs to mind as a recent example of Zimmer leaving an indelible mark on mine-bending cinema of late.<\/p>\n

In fact, we can officially expect more from the pair, as Zimmer confirmed<\/a> from the Dark Knight<\/em>‘s red carpet premiere that they’re working together on the forthcoming Nolan-produced Superman reboot, Man of Steel<\/em>.<\/p>\n
