\"RedThis August director Spike Lee’s latest film, Red Hook Summer<\/em>, will hit the big screen in selected cities, complete with a soundtrack split between compositions from longtime radio favorite\u00a0Bruce Hornsby and songs by newcomer Judith Hill. While Hornsby’s 30-year resum\u00e9 speaks for itself, the film should be the first time most will hear Hill’s voice outside of critical circles and the fans she’s gained so far. Spike Lee himself is to thank for that, as the lauded director of the Oscar-nominated classic\u00a0Do the Right Thing<\/em>\u00a0invited Hill to contribute 10 new tunes to the project. Simply put, “Judith’s voice lift’s the film up,” he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, all music aside, the film trailer seems to find Lee in top form here, offering a nostalgic depiction of a kid moving from Atlanta to Brooklyn — a transition Lee himself once made growing up.<\/p>\n
