What&#8217;s more, upon first listen, <em>The Carpenter<\/em> offers plenty of proof that they&#8217;re some of the best song craftsmen in the field out there. &#8220;Life&#8221; is a moving, acoustic and orchestral rumination on the human condition while &#8220;Pretty Girl from Michigan&#8221; shows off the boys&#8217; skill in crafting a fine pop tune as well. It&#8217;s a sprawling set, for sure, complete with a wide array of moods ranging from poignant and thought-provoking to some old-fashioned musical fun.
