Dirty Projectors, ‘Gun Has No Trigger’

Dirty Projectors returned today with a first glimpse at their forthcoming LP: “Gun Has No Trigger,” a soulful, mid-tempo jam that offers both a nod to Dave Longstreth’s previous work and a confident step in a fresh direction. My pal/occasional 24B contributor Casey hears some Cee-Lo Green on lead vocals, but — picking up on his Gnarls “Crazy” Barkley connection — I’m getting more of a Danger Mouse vibe than anything else. Even the chord progression brings Brian Burton’s old Reverberi brothers-penned spaghetti western samples to mind.

All that said, Longstreth and Co.’s new cut has achieved it’s most immediate aim: leaving us wanting more. Give it a spin below.
