Ward performed a live rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hey, That’s No Way to Say Goodbye,” and now Phosphorescent have a live take of their own — following up on a string of classic covers by Matthew Houck and friends of the Beatles, Neil Young, and Bob Dylan.

As Birds Need Feet points out, Dead Oceans shared the above cut from Phosphorescent’s new live EP, Ghost Lights, this week.

Phosphorescent’s Matthew Houck went barefoot for this year’s One Day Without Shoes, an annual event that raises awareness about the plight of children in developing countries led by TOMS, for two performances filmed by La Blogothèque’s “A Take Away Show.” The first take, a stunning electric guitar-backed version of “My Dove, My Lamb” in Houck’s Brooklyn rehearsal space, is above. He also performed “At Death, A Proclamation,” which is worth watching — if only to admire Houck’s impressive rooftop balancing act.
