Jeff Tweedy´s Son Plays Drums at Wilco´s MSG Set, Opening for Neil Young

Jeff Tweedy’s son Spencer turned 13 last night while being sung Happy Birthday by the sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden during Wilco’s set, opening for Neil Young. The sing-along happened after the band played “The Late Greats” with Spencer Tweedy on the drums.

RS’s Smoking Section reports, Tweedy’s son has been playing the drums since he was 2-years-old and formed his first band at the age of 6, which debuted at Lollapalooza two years ago. The band is currently nameless, as the previous two names Tullymonster and the Blisters were already taken. “Hopefully we’ll have our #1 album out by next year,” Spencer Tweedy said.

So he’s only 13 and has played Lollapalooza, MSG, and opened for Neil Young? Not bad at all. Oh yeah, he has a blog too.
