We’re guessing this all started before Jimmy Chamberlin jumped ship last month, but the former Smashing Pumpkins drummer and sole surviving member Billy Corgan are calling for people to sign a petition and boycott Kentucky Fried Chicken.
In a press release, PETA said, “Corgan and former drummer Chamberlin ask KFC to improve the lives of chickens who ‘suffer from extremely crowded conditions, crippling bone and joint problems resulting from top-heavy breeding, callous handling, inhumane slaughter techniques, and shortened life spans.’”
Corgan might be busy hating on his fans and dating Tila Tequila (totes BS), but he still has time to save the chickens. What’s more, PETA’s using him to reach out to the youth: “Corgan and Chamberlin know that kids are fed up with the inhumane treatment of animals, and they’re not going to stand for it anymore,” the release added. “After all, if KFC executives treated people the way their suppliers treat chickens, they’d be languishing in prison for the rest of their lives.”
