Who knows when the third Coconut Records LP that Jason Schwartzman says he’s begun plotting will arrive, but in the meantime, the actor/musician is giving away a nice (and free!) holiday treat to the Web via Target’s new indie-heavy holiday album, The Christmas Gig. As Pop Candy points out, Bishop Allen, Best Coast and Wavves, Guster, Blackalicious, Crystal Antlers, and more have penned new tracks for the compilation, all of which are available to download or stream here. One cycle through the tracklist and I can safely say the Rushmore star’s catchy pop ditty, “It’s Christmas,” is my favorite.
