Francis and the Lights: Like a Dream

Francis and the Lights Like a DreamFrancis and the Lights caught me off guard a few weeks back with “If They Don’t Come Tomorrow,” an unexpectedly vulnerable turn from the New York solo musician, producer, and Drake collaborator. This week finds him taking another welcome step forward from earlier bravado — or call it a Riverdance forward, depending on how you interpret these crop field dance moves. “Like a Dream” retains the ’80s, Peter Gabriel-soundtracked film hooks he’s always had a knack for, only more mature this time, well-honed into an uplifting pop cut for the ages. Hear/watch it, caught in a lovely pre-sunset moment by director Jake Schreier, above.
