Neko Case got in the Halloween spirit yesterday, dressing up in a gorilla suit for a live Tiny Desk Concert webcast. With her band celebrating in costume as well, they played an unplugged, 3-song set composed of cuts from Case’s excellent new album, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight… Musically, it’s intriguing to hear how well this material works in a stripped-down, reverbless setting, but add the surreal visual of a gorilla harmonizing heartfelt tunes with a zombie farmer to the mix and it’s a real treat.
