Lily Allen to Invade U.S., Appear on Oprah, Ellen, and Leno

Lily Allen, the British singer and Katy Perry rival, is planning to invade the U.S. media in April, promoting her forthcoming album It’s Not Me, It’s You. UK’s Sunday Mirror reports that Allen has landed coveted high-profile appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen Degeneres Show, and possibly the most influential, (when it comes to album sales) The Oprah Winfrey Show. Allen will also appear on the covers of Spin, Paper, Billboard, Nylon, and The New York Times. If you plan on avoiding the Lily Allen press invasion, now’s your chance to take that spring trip to London you’re always talking about.

Lily Allen’s hopes of breaking through in America were dashed in 2006 when she was unable to promote her album Alright, Still because her U.S. visa was revoked following an alleged assault against a photographer. She has now been approved for a work visa, so she’s giving it another go with hopefully less drama this time.

“Lily knows this is her big chance to become a household name in the States,” a source told the Sunday Mirror. “Lily will have to tone down her usual wildchild behaviour. She has promised not to show off her third nipple or do anything that could offend the more conservative US market.”
