Among the 12-track release are cuts by a number of favorites (many of which were originally secular, non-holiday tunes) re-imagined for December festivities, including the Meg White-sung, White Stripes song “In the Cold, Cold Night,” Sufjan Stevens’ “Sister Winter” and Joni Mitchell’s “River.”
Thorn did pen two originals, though, writing own title track and opening the set with her new tune “Joy.” Traditional piece “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” makes an appearance, as well as Magnetic Fields leader Stephin Merritt’s “Like a Snowman” and another frosty pick, Randy Newman’s “Snow.”
