David Bowie and Sonic Youth on Twitter

Twitter has become a big hit for musicians looking to give hints about their recording process and in the last few weeks, two prominent music legends have started tweeting: David Bowie and Sonic Youth.

Bowie’s Twitter has really only been updated once since its inception on January 5, but the update was very juicy for fans of Bowie’s 1970s masterpieces Low and Heroes. “Cheers from a snowy Berlin! Working on some new material!” Bowie writes.

As Undercover notes, Bowie classics Low, Heroes, and Lodger are commonly referred to as the “Berlin Trilogy,” because they were either fully or partially recorded in the city and were highly influenced by German music.

Sonic Youth’s Twitter is much less cryptic, providing daily updates on the mixing process of their upcoming album, The Eternal. The art rock legends release new song titles via tweet, like “Calming the Snake” and “Massage the History.”

Their mix engineer, John Agnello, also has a Twitter in which he talks about his work with Sonic Youth. In fact, today’s SY tweet even takes a little stab at their collaborator: “john thinks he’s teaching us a thing or two about feedback,” it reads.
